Most affiliates are now using social media as part of their affiliate marketing strategies. But not all of them are finding success with it. The main reason is they simply don’t know how to convert their social media traffic into sales. The process does require some cultivating, but with a little work and a consistent strategy, it’s certainly possible to turn your fans into paying customers. Here are four ways to help you do it.
1. Be Honest
When promoting a product or service on social media, be honest. Don’t over exaggerate the benefits of the product, and never fabricate testimonials. If you don’t have a ton of social proof, you could always link back to articles and other relevant information that talk about the product and its benefits. The main take away here is to build a level of trust while promoting online.
2. Share Results
When people are looking for a product to buy, they want to know it will give them results. Now, you can’t provide that information if you don’t have it. However, if you do, then by all means share it. Use images and video often, as people tend to engage with this type of material much more than they would a regular text post. Make sure the results are the highlight of your content and use it to build excitement around the brand you are promoting.
3. Use Relevant Hashtags
Hashtags enable social media users to quickly find relevant products, services, and conversations. If you want to be discovered by people who are ready to buy, you should absolutely add hashtags related to your product or niche. Don’t overdo it though. Using too many hashtags in one post could be seen as spamming, and people don’t like that. Instead, add one or two relevant tags to make it easier for users to find you.
4. Optimize for Mobile
Once a person makes the decision to click on a link to purchase your product, you can quickly kill that conversion if your page isn’t optimized for mobile devices. Most people access their social platforms on tablets and smartphones, and your landing page should accommodate that technology. This is one of the easiest ways to convert your social traffic into sales, but many affiliates, as well as big businesses fail at this because their websites are just too difficult to navigate on mobile devices. If your entire site is not optimized for mobile, then you should definitely invest in an upgrade. In the meantime, build separate landing pages for your social media traffic.
Building a highly engaged social media following is difficult enough, and converting followers into customers is a completely different ballgame. It’s definitely something you have to work at, but it’s certainly not impossible. Make it easy for your customers to do business with you by optimizing your landing pages for mobile devices, sharing honest product testimonials and results, and applying appropriate, relevant hashtags to your posts. If you do this, you will start to see an increase in both followers and revenue.
