1. Test It with Your Own Mobile Device
One quick way to tell whether or not your website is mobile-friendly is to simply check it with your own mobile device. When you arrive on your website, do you have to pinch and zoom to read the content? Are the images cut off at the sides, or are they contained within the page? If you can’t easily read the content because it’s either too small or you have to pinch and pull the screen, then you know that your website is not optimized for mobile devices. This test works on both tablets and smartphones.
2. Test it In Your PC Browser
This test should only take a few seconds. Visit the homepage of your website. Then drag the right side of your browser all the way over to the left side of your browser, squishing both sides together. When you get to the point where you can’t push them together anymore, stop and look at the web page. An optimized site will be perfectly legible and clear, and the images and content will not run off the page. If your site is not optimized for mobile, you won’t be able to read much of the content, as it will be cut off at a certain point, along with the graphics.
3. Use the Google Test
Still not quite sure whether your site fits the bill? You can go directly to Google and run your URL through an analyzer that checks to see if your site is mobile friendly. It’s a simple test that only takes a few seconds, and many business owners are more comfortable using this method because it comes straight from Google. This is an excellent tool for affiliates who own multiple websites, as you can test all of them within just a few minutes and find out exactly what changes need to be made for compliance.
